Start playing Starfield Only After Reading These Crucial Advice

The game Starfield is already out and is already tipped to be among the best of 2023. Last night, Bethesda Game Studios’ gigantic space roleplaying game had a wide release, and it is now playable on Xbox Game Pass.

With more than 1,000 planets to discover and hundreds of missions available, Starfield offers a lot of content. These are some of the helpful hints I wish I had known when I first started playing Starfield, which I have played for more than 40 hours.

Don’t grab everything: It’s tempting to pick up whatever you find during your adventure in hopes of selling it or using it for later. Just don’t.

I couldn’t fast-travel for the first few hours because I kept picking up goods, filling my inventory, and adding to my load. Additionally, the items I picked up would not have sold for much money. That paperweight for 10 credits isn’t going to help when the main expenditures in Starfield are spaceships that cost 100,000 to 300,000 credits.

If you simply need to take everything that isn’t bolted down, have your partner carry some of the clutter for you. You can also use your spacecraft as a pack mule. Ask to swap stuff by speaking with them. Then fill them with everything you don’t need to carry on your person. This is an efficient approach to move quickly without being overly burdened. Look for a display that lists the ship’s inventory when you arrive aboard the ship. You should dump any materials here because you can use them anywhere you do some crafting.

Make sure to sell: There are merchants in many cities and colonies, but if you want to avoid a walk, seek for a yellow kiosk near the relevant spaceports. You can sell everything you have at this Trade Authority kiosk. Although space suits and weapons may be purchased for a good price, completing missions will earn you the majority of your credits.

Finding shortcuts: The star map is the main menu in Starfield, though there are several more as well. You map out where you’re going to go next from here. Instead than navigating through numerous menus to select the planet you want to visit for a mission, go to the list of missions and select the one that is currently in progress. Instead than navigating through numerous menus and wasting so much time, there will be an option to set a route directly to the planet you need to go to.

Try to be more persuasive: Persuasion is one of the earliest talents you can develop. The “Persuade” dialog option is now available, and it starts a minigame. The individual you’re speaking with will need to be convinced to agree to something, such as handing over a priceless object required for a mission. When used properly, this talent can save a ton of time, money, and effort. As you level up or use equipment to increase your odds of success, it gets simpler.

Become The Mantis: Early on in the game, you’ll find a note left by space pirates describing a hidden treasure. You can find Denobola I-B and the Mantis base by following the clues. Imagine Batman in outer space. This is a challenging task with advanced foes, strong robots, and several traps. Yet the benefit is worthwhile. The Mantis ship, which can destroy numerous enemy ships in a space combat, and a set of Mantis armor, some of the game’s most potent equipment, are rewards for completing the objective. Additionally, it serves as a deterrent to space pirates who could try to sneak up on you while you’re exploring the cosmos.

Kill aliens to get crafting materials: In Starfield, crafting is essential if you want to build your own outpost, improve your space suit, helmet, and pack, and create valuable healing supplies. Metals or gases that can be discovered on various planets are often the ingredients needed for crafting. Some vendors could have a few resources accessible, but you’ll need to murder some of the alien species you come across if you want more organic resources like fiber, sealant, and nutrients. The majority of these monsters are simple to defeat, but there are a few that you should be wary of.

Get a boost: Boost Pack Training is one of the strongest early-game skills to acquire. Your pack features thrusters that, once unlocked and loaded, will give you a small boost if you press the jump button while jumping. Boosting not only lessens any possible fall damage, but also enables you to ascend to higher platforms where you can locate additional things, outwit adversaries, or simply move through an area more quickly. Its effectiveness when attempting to flee from opponents is another perk.

Take cover: Starfield does feature a cover system, though it may not be immediately apparent. Aiming your gun will allow you to peek out to shoot while hiding behind a corner of a wall or while squatting behind something. When you’re in cover, it won’t be immediately evident how your character grips their pistol. Given that the adversaries frequently employ cover, this is helpful in lengthy firefights.

Your favorites, please: The inventory user interface in Starfield should be much better. It’s not really obvious. Favoriting your most frequently used weapons is one way to get around that, at least for guns. These weapons will remain in the fast slots that allow you to quickly switch between pieces of equipment. In order to make healing goods like Med Packs easier to obtain, things can also be added to the fast slots.

To auto-hack and auto-persuade, keep in mind that once the lockpicking and persuasion talents have been acquired, each successful use of the skills will count towards an option to auto-hack and auto-persuade. while available, choosing this option will, without cost to the player or adverse effects, automatically fill a slot while lockpicking or make a successful dialogue choice when using persuasion on an NPC.

Get some rest: It’s simple to play the full game without sleeping, but you’ll miss out on several advantages if you do. 10% of the experience points you gain in the subsequent 24 hours are added to your total as a well-rested bonus. Along with regaining full health and wiping out any status effects, that is.

Bring out the scanner: The hand scanner is a device that is generally used when exploring planets to record the many lifeforms, vegetation, and resources, but it also serves another essential function. The scanner will display arrows on the ground pointing in the direction you need to go next to complete your quest if you have an activated quest. This was useful for me at larger institutions where it was difficult to find the stairs.

Power up your companions: Every companion in the game comes with their own weapons, but they’re not that great. To give them a new weapon, start a conversation to trade some gear. Give them whatever gun you like, but you have to make sure you select “Equip” once the new weapon is in their inventory. When you exit out you’ll see the companion break out the new gun.

Buy your resources: Metals needed for upgrades and crafting are incredibly cheap. Almost every merchant you come across will have resources for sale, so if you have a need for a certain metal, just buy it and save yourself some mining.

Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X and S consoles, starting at $70 (£70, AU$99). It’s also included in Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
