How to Get Free Xbox Game Pass

159

On Xbox consoles and PCs, Xbox Game Pass grants you access to a library of hundreds of games, including recent releases like Starfield and Lies of P. The famous Microsoft subscription service has a starting price of $10 per month, but if you know how, you can acquire Game Pass for less or maybe nothing at all.

Microsoft Rewards, a loyalty program that rewards users of Microsoft products like Bing and Xbox, is the key. Gaining enough points to qualify for a free month of Xbox Game Pass and other benefits for utilizing Microsoft’s services only takes approximately 10 minutes every day.

Here’s how to get a free month of Xbox Game Pass.

Get set up first

1. Sign up for Microsoft Rewards: Microsoft Rewards is free to sign up for at the Rewards website using a Microsoft account. You’ll need to visit the Rewards site daily to do Bing searches and different activities for points.

2. Download the Bing and Microsoft Edge apps: Download the Bing and Edge apps for your device, either Android or iOS, and sign into your Microsoft account. The Bing app rewards points for daily check-ins, searches and other activities, while doing a few searches on the Edge app will also gain you points.

3. Sign up for Microsoft Rewards on an Xbox (optional): This can be done on an Xbox One or Xbox Series console by downloading the Microsoft Rewards app via the Microsoft Store. There are daily, weekly and monthly activities available that can provide a lot of extra points just for playing video games.

4. Download the Xbox app (optional): Like the Bing app, there are daily activities you can do on the Xbox app — available on the App Store and Google Play — that give you points once signed in with a Microsoft account.

How to start earning points

To automatically redeem for one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you need 12,000 points. This is the most expensive level of the Game Pass subscription, costing $17 per month, and provides access to a selection of PC and Xbox games. For fewer points, there are other Game Pass alternatives.

Here is a list of the things I do each day and how long they each take.

Daily set

  • Points gained: 50-150 + streak bonus.
  • Monthly total: Approximately 3,000 points.
  • Time required: About 2 minutes.
  • Hardware used: Laptop, desktop, mobile.

The Daily Set is a collection of several tasks that can be found on the Microsoft Rewards page, which can be accessed on mobile devices as well as laptops and desktops if you request the desktop version of the page or through the Bing app. Most of them demand that you click a link that leads to a Bing search page in exchange for 5 to 10 points each. A daily quiz that has three to ten questions and can be awarded up to 50 points is usually concerning current events. There is also a daily poll available for 10 points every day.

There are different amounts of activity; some days have more than others. You must do the top three activities on the page to get the streak bonus, which begins at 45 points after a three-day streak and can reach 105 points.

Bing browser searches

  • Points gained: 150 points.
  • Monthly total: Approximately 4,500 points.
  • Time required: Less than a minute per day.
  • Hardware used: Laptop, desktop, mobile.

You will receive 5 points for each search you conduct on Bing using a desktop browser or a mobile device. It’s up to you how you want to approach these 30 search queries, but clicking arbitrary letters or numbers and performing a search for each will count toward the objective.

By checking Microsoft Rewards and selecting “Today’s Points” to see how many are from Bing, you may confirm the points you have earned.

Bing app searches and news

  • Points gained: 130 points + streak bonus.
  • Monthly total: Approximately 4,200 points.
  • Time required: 3 minutes per day.
  • Hardware used: Mobile.

Once you’ve logged in with your Microsoft Rewards account, a Rewards widget will appear when you open the Bing app. You can check in daily for 5 points for the first two days, 10 points for the following two days, 15 points for the following two days, and a random bonus on the seventh day that might be worth up to 50 points by clicking on that, which will take you to the reward home page.

There is a “Search to Earn” widget underneath the check-in. When you click on that, a page with your search history and suggested news stories will load. Simply click on 20 of these news pieces to earn 100 points in a flash. One more widget named “Read to Earn” rewards you with three points for each article you click on, so all you have to do is select ten stories.

Microsoft Edge app searches

  • Points gained: 20 points.
  • Monthly total: Approximately 600 points.
  • Time required: Less than 30 seconds.
  • Hardware used: Mobile.

The fastest way to get daily points for Microsoft’s Edge browser is to use the Edge mobile application. To earn the daily 20 points, launch it and conduct four searches on the home page.

Monthly total: 12,300 points.

Every day, the aforementioned tasks will take you between five and seven minutes to complete. As long as the streak continues, you will have enough points (12,000 points via Bing Rewards) to qualify for a free month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Get even more points with Xbox

If you want to pad your points or simply get the most points available, you’ll need to do some work on your Xbox.

Xbox app activities

  • Points gained: 160 points + streak bonus.
  • Monthly total: Approximately 5,200 points.
  • Time required: 8 minutes per day.
  • Hardware used: Mobile.

There are three daily activities in the Xbox app for mobile devices. The first involves a daily check-in that awards 5 points on the first day, 5 more points on each subsequent day, and 25 points on the fifth day before it resets. The software allows users to play the game Jewel for the second action. To activate the points, which start at 30 but increase to 60 if you have friends on Xbox and are a Game Pass user, you must complete two stages of the puzzle game.

A Windows machine is required for the third task. Play a game with your Xbox account, whether it’s Windows Solitaire or something from PC Game Pass. The 50 points for playing the game must be activated after around five minutes of gameplay. A further 50 points will be awarded if you have Xbox pals and are a Game Pass subscriber, giving you a total of 100.

Xbox Game Pass quests

  • Points gained: 8-60 points + streak bonus.
  • Monthly total: Approximately 2,000-3,500 points.
  • Time required: Varies.
  • Hardware used: Xbox One, Xbox Series X or S.

On the Xbox, there is a Microsoft Rewards app with a variety of activities for points. The weekly 100-point activity entails watching a trailer, using Bing, or simply launching the Rewards app. Any prerequisites for searches are already met if you carry out the aforementioned actions. Additional 5 points are available in the daily activities category for viewing other games or trailers.

Game Pass tasks, which are daily, weekly, and monthly activities with varying point values, are also available on the Xbox. You will receive 3 points daily for playing a Game Pass game, and 50 points daily for completing an achievement in a Game Pass game.

You can gain 250 points each week for weekly activities like starting up a certain game, which awards 5 points. Then there are the monthly activities, which start at 10 points for playing four different Game Pass games and 500 points for finishing 22 daily and 12 weekly tasks.

Monthly total for Xbox activities: Up to 8,700 points.

If you engage in all of the aforementioned activities, you can earn just over 20,000 points per month. If, however, you choose to automatically redeem the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate using the Rewards app on the Xbox, you will only need to use 10,500 points, you will still have more than 9,000 points. You can store up these points until you have enough to purchase a game, controller, or even another Xbox by using them to redeem products like an Amazon gift card.
