On sometimes, you could begin recording a video on your iPhone vertically before realising a few seconds later that it is actually recording horizontally. Since the iPhone locks the video in the orientation you started recording in, flipping your phone halfway won’t work.

Apple has thankfully provided our iPhones with a practical fix you may utilise once you’re finished recording because they are aware that this is a typical occurrence. Your movie should be in the proper orientation in just a few short seconds with just a few “button” touches.

With the introduction of iOS 13 in 2019 Apple included the capability to alter the orientation of a video. In fact, if your iPhone is running iOS 13 or later, you may utilise the tool to swiftly correct any films that were improperly captured. How? Read on.

How to fix your iPhone’s video orientation

1. Open the Photos app and find the video you want to fix.
2. Tap the Edit button on the upper right of the screen to bring up a toolbar at the bottom.
3. Now tap the Crop icon on the far right side on the toolbar.
4. Next tap the Rotate tool icon (a square with a tiny arrow) on the top left of the screen.
5. Once the video is in the orientation you want, tap the Done button.
