It’s possible that the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE will still be released with a new processor.

With the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE not showing up in 2022 and all, the trail had become quite cold. However, the most recent rumours from the rumour mill indicate that the phone is in fact coming and will have a freshly built processor inside.

This comes from @RGcloudS on Twitter (via Notebookcheck (opens in new tab)); keep in mind that this is a source we haven’t heard from all that much in the past. The Galaxy S22 FE, according to the insider, will replace Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy A74 in 2023.

Even though some sources have said that the Exynos 2300 won’t soon be seen in any mass-produced devices, it appears that it will be powered by a brand-new processor created by Samsung themselves, the Exynos 2300.

And a tablet too

The Samsung Galaxy S22 FE may make an appearance during a second Unpacked launch event, which is planned in addition to the one we already anticipate in February for the official announcement of the Galaxy S23 flagship phones, if the report is true.

The same source also claims that a condensed FE version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 with the same Exynos 2300 CPU would be released. Although we were hoping to see this new tablet this year, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about it.

Although nothing is official yet, it seems like lovers of this low-cost series may once again have something to look forward to. There has been much ambiguity around whether or not we would see a FE version of the Samsung Galaxy S22.

Analysis: on again off again

The Fan Edition (FE) of Samsung’s flagship devices has become somewhat of a tradition; the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and Samsung Galaxy S21 FE both provided smartphone purchasers with respectable specifications without carrying a hefty price tag, which is always a winning combo.

However, the Galaxy S21 FE debuted 15 months later than expected in January 2022, and there have been several reports that Samsung has chosen to discontinue the FE line, with analogies to the cancellation of the Galaxy Note series.

It appeared as though the Galaxy S22 FE would never be released when the typical indicators of an impending smartphone (such database model numbers) failed to materialise. In reality, it’s possible that we just looked for those indications too soon.

Even the Galaxy S21 FE’s non-existence was rumoured, which raised further questions about a replacement. However, assuming the pricing is reasonable, the Galaxy S22 FE might play a significant role in Samsung’s phone lineup for 2023.
