Less than a week remains until Amazon’s two-day October Prime Day shopping event. Despite the fact that the actual sale doesn’t begin until Tuesday, Oct. 10, offers have already started to be offered, including some significant discounts on laptops. Additionally, reductions aren’t just available on Amazon.com. You can significantly reduce the cost of a new laptop by taking advantage of competing discounts at Best Buy and Walmart.
For years, I’ve reviewed computers and kept tabs on sales for CNET. Here are the top current laptop offers I’ve identified in my search as one of The Tech Fun laptop experts for the biggest price reductions on laptops that are worthwhile purchasing. I’ll also update this list with the most recent laptop deals available on Amazon and elsewhere when the official Prime Day sale begins the following week.
M1 MacBook Air: $750

Despite being three years old, the MacBook Air with Apple’s M1 processor is still an important component of the MacBook family. It’s the most affordable MacBook, and right now, thanks to a sizable $249 discount, it’s even more reasonable. The biggest price break we’ve seen for it was only $1 more expensive than that. Apple’s M2 chip has exceeded the M1 CPU, but it still has more than adequate power for the bulk of tasks you’ll perform on the laptop, whether they are for work, school, or home use. The M1 MacBook has a 13.3-inch Retina display, which is just slightly smaller than the 13.6-inch panel you get with the more recent M2 model, and does not include the Touch Bar, which may be seen as a plus.
13-inch M2 MacBook Pro: $1,049

On the smallest MacBook Pro, you can currently save a lot of money. This is the most recent M2 model, not an older one that is still for sale. The Touch Bar, which has been badly received and is rarely used, is absent from the 13-inch MacBook Pro, but it still offers a fantastic balance of power and portability at an excellent price.
Razer Blade 15: $2,300

This gaming laptop is, in my opinion, the most attractive one available. This 15.6-inch Razer Blade laptop is incredibly thin for a powerful gaming laptop and has a sleek, slab-like appearance. It also has a robust component lineup, although one with older-generation parts. Even so, the RTX 3070 Ti GPU and 12th-gen Intel Core i7 CPU should have more than enough power to run most AAA games at 1080p with acceptable quality settings. Nothing is missing from the display. It has a sharp QHD resolution, a quick 240Hz refresh rate, and a 15.6-inch OLED panel. At Amazon, the Razer Blade 15 configuration is currently $1,000 off and a fantastic offer at $2,300.
Razer Blade 17: $2,600
Save $1,200
This is a larger version of the Razer Blade 15 mentioned above, with a greater discount. This Razer Blade 17 from last year, which features a 12th-generation Core i9 CPU, RTX 3070 Ti graphics, and a generous 32GB of RAM, can be yours for $1,200 less. The spacious 17.3-inch display, while not as quick or an OLED panel, should work well due to its 4K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.
LG Gram 16: $1,119

It’s light and thin, and it’s on sale. The LG Gram 16 weighs only 2.62 pounds and is only 0.66 inches thick, making it remarkably thin for a 16-inch laptop. And there is a huge $581 discount. The Core i7-1260P is a part of the midrange P series and has an older-generation Intel chip, but it should still be powerful enough for most people. Its raw processing capacity exceeds that of an effective U-series CPU, which is frequently seen in thin and light laptops. Additionally, this Gram 16 model offers a capacious 1TB SSD and 16GB of enough RAM to boost performance. Additionally, the vast 16-inch, 16:10 display has a clear 2,560×1,600 resolution. A 1080p webcam, two Thunderbolt 4 connections, and a microSD card slot are also included.
Lenovo Yoga 7i 14: $750
Save $300
This Lenovo midrange two-in-one convertible laptop has a 14-inch display, an all-metal frame, a Core i7-1355U processor, and 16GB of RAM. The display can be rotated 360 degrees into tablet mode and has a nice 2.2K (2,240×1,400) resolution. It is also rated for a respectable 300 nits of brightness.

With a 14-inch touch screen and a 16:10 aspect ratio, Dell’s newest 2-in-1 convertible offers more vertical space than a widescreen 16:9 panel, reducing the need to scroll through webpages and documents. An AMD Ryzen 7 7730U CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD are included within. Although it offers twice as much solid-state storage as the Yoga 7i mentioned above, its display only has a 250 nit rating and a lower 1,920×1,200 resolution.
MSI Sword 15: $915
New low price
This MSI Sword model is a unique instance of a gaming laptop under $1,000 that includes a GeForce RTX 40 series graphics processor from Nvidia. Along with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, it combines an RTX 4050 GPU with a Core i7-12650H processor from a prior generation. The 15.6-inch display boasts a 144Hz refresh rate and full HD resolution. Its current cost has significantly decreased from the $1,099 it originally cost.
Acer Swift X 14: $1,240

With its stunning 14.5-inch OLED display and 13th-generation Core i7 H-series CPU and RTX 4050 GPU, the Acer Swift X 14 is equipped with the most recent Intel and Nvidia hardware. Such a pair is normally found in a larger machine; in order to provide producers greater workspace, content creation laptops sometimes include 16- or 17-inch monitors. However, the Swift X 14 offers the necessary power in a more portable chassis for demanding graphics work (and some gaming). The OLED panel, with its 2,880×1,800 pixel quality, is amazing despite the overall dull appearance.
